Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

We built MakerFusion for craft business owners who value their work and their privacy. This policy explains clearly what data we collect and how we use it.

1.What We Collect

We collect information you provide directly when you create an account or use MakerFusion, including:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash).
  • Business data: inventory records, recipes, expense entries, sales data, and any other content you enter into the platform.
  • Connected account tokens: OAuth tokens for Etsy and Shopify when you authorise those integrations. We store only the access token and refresh token — never your marketplace password.
  • Payment information: billing is handled entirely by Stripe. MakerFusion never sees or stores your full card number.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and error logs. We use this to improve the product.
  • Device and browser information: IP address, browser type, and operating system, collected automatically for security and analytics purposes.

2.How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the MakerFusion platform.
  • Process your subscription payments through Stripe.
  • Sync orders and listings from Etsy and Shopify on your behalf.
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, invoices).
  • Send product update emails and tips — you can unsubscribe from these at any time.
  • Analyse aggregate usage patterns to improve features and performance.
  • Investigate and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your business data to train AI models or share it with advertisers.

3.Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including:

  • TLS encryption for all data in transit.
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive fields (API tokens, passwords).
  • Regular automated backups with point-in-time recovery.
  • Access controls that limit which team members can access production data.
  • Dependency and vulnerability monitoring.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take security seriously and apply reasonable safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4.Third-Party Services

MakerFusion integrates with third-party services to provide core functionality. Each service has its own privacy policy.

  • Stripe— payment processing. When you subscribe or update billing details, you interact with Stripe's secure checkout. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Etsy API— when you connect an Etsy shop, we access your shop's orders, listings, and fees via Etsy's official API using OAuth 2.0. We only request the scopes needed to operate MakerFusion.
  • Shopify API — connecting a Shopify store grants us read access to orders and products. We use only what is needed for sync.
  • Email delivery — we use a transactional email provider to deliver account emails. Your email address is shared only for the purpose of delivery.
  • Error monitoring — we may use an error-tracking service to capture application errors. These reports do not contain your business data.

5.Cookies

MakerFusion uses a small number of cookies:

  • Session cookie: a secure, HTTP-only cookie that keeps you logged in. It expires when you sign out or after an extended period of inactivity.
  • Preference storage: local storage values used to remember your UI preferences such as theme and sidebar state. These stay on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
  • Analytics cookies: if we use a privacy-friendly analytics tool, it may set a cookie. We do not use Google Analytics or ad-tracking cookies.

You can clear cookies at any time via your browser settings. Clearing the session cookie will sign you out.

6.Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: request that we delete your account and associated data (see the Data Deletion section below).
  • Portability: receive your business data in a structured, machine-readable format (CSV export is available within the app).
  • Objection: object to certain uses of your data, such as marketing emails.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

7.Data Deletion

You can delete your MakerFusion account at any time from your account settings. When you delete your account:

  • Your account credentials, profile information, and all business data (inventory, recipes, expenses, etc.) are permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Stripe retains billing records as required by financial regulations. We cannot delete those on your behalf.
  • Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics that cannot be traced back to you may be retained for product analysis.
  • If your account was connected to Etsy or Shopify, revoking MakerFusion's access from within those platforms will prevent any future API calls.

If you need help deleting your account or want to confirm deletion, contact us at [email protected].
